“Attention to Intention” are the magic words

I have learned a great lesson this last week/2 weeks. I must pay attention to my intentions. I got a little lost for a bit because I allowed my focus to stray from my ultimate goal. I guess I’ve spent so much time and energy trying to identify just what that goal was, I lost sight of it in my search for the hard way to find it.

I remember a number of stories my teacher told me in the 1980’s about always seeking out the tons of ways and heavy energy I would expend to find my way when it was right in front of me all the time and all I had to do was reach out and grab it. I miss Ruth.  She’s probably laughing her head off at me right now, but I think she’d be proud to see that I’m finally just reaching out and grabbing what has been there all along.

Life really doesn’t have to be hard or difficult or tough or any of the other things we make it to be. And there is the operative phrase.  We are in charge, you know. We make these decisions based on incomplete information and then try to live by the decisions we made. If something is too easy, we’re suspicious. If something’s obvious, we back away and tell ourselves that something is not the right something, because it just couldn’t be that easy.

Guess what my friends. It can be but there’s a secret formula involved – we have to know where we’re going, focus on the end point and be willing to let getting there take care of itself.

I’m reading a great book right now, Trust Based Selling, by Charles H. Green. In it, the author discusses ways to earn the trust of your customers and others, but I think there needs to be something said here about setting up a relationship of trust with and within yourself. If, as you profess to believe, you are meant for a certain destiny, a type of life, a way of being, somewhere inside you need to trust that you already know how to do it. Then just let go and be that thing that you say you’re meant to be – what could be easier?

But human beings are not like that, we have to make events have meaning, we are hard wired to block ourselves from being, doing and having exactly what we’re meant to have. By paying attention to intention, a lot of this “STUFF” in the way just disappears and the way is clear once again for you to proceed.
