oughta-pilot

You are currently browsing the archive for the oughta-pilot category.

Are you doing what you were born to do or what you have learned to do? It isn’t always easy to discern the difference. Are you following your heart or your Oughta-Pilot?

What is an Oughta-PilotTM?

The precise definition of Oughta-PilotTM is:

Letting an “ought to” or a “should” be the primary motivation for how you live your life, the choices and decisions you make and the attitudes and feelings that arise therefrom.

Oughta-Pilots can be yours or someone else’s, but they’re stringy and sticky and really hard to get rid of – sort of like the cockroaches in my first apartment.

I spent the first 45 years of my life doing everything others said or thought I “oughta” do. I made myself miserable trying to do and be what my parents, teachers, spouses and so-called friends said I “should”.  It got me nowhere fast. I was suffering because I couldn’t be true to my own Truth.

Then, one day, I woke up and claimed my own BirthRight. Now I live a conscious, created life and take full responsibility for my actions.  And so can you. The time comes when your Truth, your dreams and your desires will no longer be denied or suppressed and you accept your destiny.

I’ve started teaching others how to disconnect their OP’s as well. There is a specific process I have developed and I’m tickled to say, can now share with others. I have folded the process into an all day workshop which I’m scheduling in cities across the country. Contact me to let me know if you’d like me to schedule a workshop in your city.

We’re all trying to do a little better for ourselves, right? Working for things like…

* More Money

* A Better Career

* A More Loving Relationship

* A Healthy Weight and Body Image

* And a “Better Lifestyle” Overall

I’ve got something which can help you do all of this and more. If you…

* need help to define exactly what you want

* need to have your questions answered

* need to learn practices necessary to live a created life

* need to learn specifically how to manifest the health, money, and relationships you yearn for

…then I can help you. :)

My exclusive “Disconnect Your Oughta-PilotTM” program is designed to bring you a new understanding of who you are, what you want and where to go next. You will be ready, willing and able to lead a life of power, passion and possibility.

This is not just for women, men have Oughta-Pilots, too!

I’ll be discussing the process more in future posts.

Lexicon For You

Where do we come up with these things? From our own fertile (and I do mean fertile not feeble) brains.

Here’s a quick CLS Lexicon so you can look up words you may not recognize.

I love the English Language and take incredible delight in tearing it apart to look under the hood!

Oughta-Pilot(TM)

An Oughta-Pilot(TM) is that control mechanism that tells you what you “oughta” do. It can come from inside or outside, but it’s always up to less than your level of magnificence.

Planifest

To planifest a dream is to create  a structure or a plan of action that calls a dream into being. When you planifest a dream, you begin with your vision of the dream already created, manifested and real and you look backwards to see what you did to make it so.

Dreambuilding

Dreambuilding is the process of experiencing what it is you dream of first hand.

And more to come!

What is the first impression people receive when they find you through Social Networking? I have had a flurry recently of Twitter followers since with working on WordCamp Portland (#wcpdx) and WordCamp Seattle (#wcsea) I’ve been autofollowing. I’ve also been beefing up my presence on Facebook. so I’ve been popular.

The thing that I am really noticing is that most of the first contacts I receive from people when I wind up on their follow list (at least on Twitter) is a message telling me what they want to sell me or what they think I need, obviously without having found out anything about me.

Those of you following me know, on Twitter, I ask you to tell me a bit about yourself – out of all my followers, no one yet has done that. This tells me nobody actually reads the welcome DMs so why not offer something that accurately reflects who you are instead of a pushy sales message?

On Facebook, I get tons of people requesting my presence in their groups, on their projects and in their games. If they took the time to look at my FB page, they’d see I use this one for business and am truly not interested in Mafia Wars or growing plants on a farm.

If you are using social networking for business and working your way through the sites, take a second to actually read the bios of the people you desire to be in your friends’ list. Are they people you’d network with if you lived in the same town as they do? Are they people you’d like to sit down with over a cup of coffee?

If you’re using the sites for personal, then feel free to play, of course, but for me it’s a real distraction when folks insist on sharing what they had for dinner or where they’re going without telling me why. Oh, and when people solicit me for dating services without seeing that I’m happily married (which is on every profile page I have) – not a good basis for a business relationship.

So, here’s how to find me if you want to establish a business friendship – and yes, I do manage these most of the time. Tell me you read my blogpost and I’ll definitely follow you back!

Savor The Success

It’s been a while since my last rant – I think I’m due.

I’ve recently had dealings with a company I thought I had come to trust. The person at its head talks a good game and appears to be committed to the things the company says it is. (And no, I don’t want to give names – at least not till everything settles). But the truth is this company doesn’t carry through on promises made, doesn’t deliver when expected and never returns emails or phone calls in a timely manner. And there are two different seminar companies I’ve had to contact once a month about delivery on products they promised at the seminar. One of them finally told me the product I had been promised as part of my enrollment (an audio of the event that could have been slapped onto a CD as was) was proving to be too much trouble to edit and therefore, would not be forthcoming.

panic-button_~PanicbtnAThis is a real hot button for me. If you’re not going to be able to deliver on a commitment when you say you’re going to, at least get in contact to say so. Everyone has things that come up. You’re not going to be able to keep every commitment; it isn’t humanly possible. It just isn’t. But communication is the way to keep your customers satisfied and loyal.

There seems to be a growing tendency, or so it appears to me, towards a feeling of entitlement among some business people; as in not needing to be available when customers call or not needing to be timely with details when someone else needs them.

I’m a talkshow radio host, as you know, and I have a royal dither of a time trying to get my guests to provide bios and information I need in time to prep my shows. It’s almost as if it’s a case of mind over matter – they don’t mind, I don’t matter! Not good, people.

It’s sort of like athletes who let their fame go to their heads. They conveniently forget that it was their fans who got them where they are in the first place and they owe them a debt of gratitude and at the very least, attention! We are nothing without our customers/clients. If we want our businesses to continue, we need to at least pay attention to their requests and deliver the level of service they have come to expect from us and which kept them opening their wallets to support us to this point.

When you encounter a vendor/provider who is not paying attention to you as a consumer, or when you encounter a business that proclaims excellent customer service but doesn’t return phone calls, remember the feeling of frustration and not having been served. Remember that nastiness in the gut that comes from suppressed anger and do what you can to avoid that happening to YOUR customers.

It’s all very well and good to have tons of first-time buyers, but it’s the repeat customers who keep you afloat and give you recommendations. I know I was a staunch advocate of this company I’m trying to get action out of, but no more. Now that trust has been broken and replaced with suspicion and a firm resolve not to recommend them to any of my clients because I can’t be sure my people will be treated right if I do.

Recommendations Are Earned, Not Standard

When you go to a restaurant and are well treated, you leave a tip for the server, don’t  you? When you get lousy service, however, do you leave one? Recommendations are like the tip. They need to be earned. A gratuity in the restaurant business used to be something received for service above and beyond what was expected. Now, it’s become a common practice to leave a 15% tip no matter how good or bad the service is.

Remember these points when you’re at work:

  1. Your customers/clients got you where you are. You owe them.
  2. If you say you’re going to do something, do it. No excuses.
  3. If you cannot deliver on a promise, at the very least communicate.

YOU HAVE TO WALK YOUR TALK. YOU ARE YOUR PRODUCT.

If all you want to do is sell someone else’s, get a job at your local megamart! You got into business in the first place to be of service (no matter what you’re doing, that’s the purpose, folks); to either make something better than what was in existence at the time, or to provide a product that was missing in the marketplace. But all that goes away if you don’t have a system of ethics you adhere to.
